da gbg bet: Newcastle United and PIF are now plotting a big-money move to sign a Bundesliga star ahead of their Premier League rivals in the summer, according to reports.

Howe admits PSR is still "controlling" Newcastle

da brwin: Whilst they’ve shown plenty of promise on the pitch this month, it’s been another frustrating transfer window for the Magpies away from the action.

Despite selling Alexander Isak for a Premier League-record fee to Liverpool in the summer, Eddie Howe admitted ahead of this weekend’s game against Aston Villa that PSR is still “controlling” Newcastle.

The manager told reporters when questioned on transfers: “No, I am not panicking. That is the worst thing you can do in a transfer window, make rash decisions.

“So we have our strategy. I say time and time again, PSR is controlling what we are able to do. I think you will understand that gives us limited room to manoeuvre, to try and bring in a player that is good enough to elevate the group and have a long-term future at the football club.

“With the finances we have available, it is very very difficult. So let’s see what happens in the last few days, I mean anything can happen from this point onwards, but certainly we would try not to panic and try to make the right decisions.”

Howe’s response suggests that any incomings will have to wait until the summer, when Newcastle will hope to have retained their Champions League place.

The Magpies are lining up a new target…

It’s also then that the new Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) rule will come into place over PSR. This means that, if Newcastle qualify for the Champions League, they’ll be able to spend 70% of money earned through football in the summer. Whether that hands them a vital boost or more frustration remains to be seen, however.

Newcastle plotting £69m move to sign Can Uzun

If recent reports are anything to go by, then those in Tyneside will be in a better position to spend when the summer transfer window arrives. According to Sports Boom, PIF are plotting a move to sign Can Uzun for Newcastle in a deal worth as much as €80m (£70m) this summer, which would eclipse their record signing Nick Woltemade (£69m).

The impressive Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder has attracted the interest of Newcastle, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur, who have all sent scouts to watch him in action this season.

With eight goals and four assists to his name in the current campaign, there’s every chance that Uzun becomes the latest young talent to swap Frankfurt for the Premier League, following in the footsteps of both Hugo Ekitike and Omar Marmoush.

Dubbed “incredible” by scout Jacek Kulig, it’s easy to see why Newcastle are so keen on signing the 20-year-old talent, especially if it means getting one over on their Premier League rivals.
