    Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group, who purchased a minority stake in United at the start of the year, have sparked controversy by removing legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson as the club's global ambassador – a position he has been holding since retiring from coaching in 2013 – in a bid to cut the club's expenses.

    United legend Rio Ferdinand, who played for 11 years under the Scottish coach at Old Trafford, did not appreciate Ratcliffe's decision. Since buying a 25 per cent stake at Old Trafford, the British billionaire has been proactive in taking multiple harsh calls to sort out the club's messy expenditure.
