Chelsea have opted to leave Djordje Petrovic out of their Club World Cup squad despite pulling out of signing Mike Maignan from AC Milan.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Chelsea have a deep pool of goalkeepers to choose from but were still on the verge of recruiting another in Maignan ahead of the Club World Cup in America. The Blues eventually pulled out of the deal, leading many fans to believe Petrovic would get his chance, having impressed on loan at Strasbourg. However, the Serbian has been left out of Enzo Maresca's squad entirely.

Instead, the former Leicester boss has included Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen and Mike Penders to travel across the Atlantic Ocean despite the goalkeeper position causing a huge number of problems across Chelsea's Premier League campaign in 2024-25.
